Located in a secluded place, on the southern coast of Brac island, Bol is the oldest town and one of the most famous seaside resorts of the Adriatic. Apart from cultural monuments, the place also features a magic nature. East and west from Bol you can see numerous shores, beautiful beaches and according to many, the most famous and beautiful beach of the Adriatic - Zlatni rat (Golden horn). This pebble cape is a unique phenomenon - it stretches into the open sea, it moves up, sometimes left, sometimes on the right, depending on winds and the waves.
Above Bol rises the mountain range, Bolska kruna, illyrian Koštilo and Vidova mountain (778m), also know as the highest island point of the Adriatic. Bol has a long and famous tradition in tourism. In 1920. Society for beautification of Bol and Tourist Office were established. Construction of the first accommodation facilities started in year 1963. After that, number of accommodation facilities was intensifying. Now Bol has a number of modern high-class hotels, holiday villages and apartments. Also, you can find numerous restaurants which can offer excellent local, Mediterranean and International cuisine, as well as quality local wines of Brac (the famous Bolski plavac).
Bol has a rich cultural and entertainment life. The most important event is Gospa od Sniga (August 5), famous folk festival, a remembering day when, according to legend, it was also snowing here. August 5 is the day of the Bol municipality. To sport and recreation fans Bol offers 25 tennis courts with central tennis court for 1820 visitors, which hosts the top-class tennis tournaments (WTA Croatian Bol Ladies Open). Bol can offer excellent conditions for surfing, water sports, bowling, football, basketball, volleyball, etc. Guided diving, underwater fishing and hang-gliding from Vidova mountain are also organized.
Bol is distant only 15km from the international airport for small airplanes and is very well connected with major European cities. Split is connected to Bol with fast boats and a ferry line via Supetar. In the tourist season, daily trips to Split, Dubrovnik, Makarska, Hvar, Jelsa, Vrbovska, Mljet and Medjugorje are organized. Near Bol there is one of the most beautiful Brac resorts - Blaca. West of Bol, above the village Murvica in Dragon cave (Drakonjina pećina), there are many carved reliefs of great artistic value - dragons and other mythological beings. Excursions to Vidova mountain is also very attractive. There you can enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding islands as well as Brac traditional specialties - ham, cheese, lamb, wine - all in a tourist cellar situated directly under highest Adriatic island point.
